Overview

Calls answered, qualified and routed, without losing the human touch.

What is an AI call agent?

An AI call agent is software that answers or makes phone calls using natural speech. Intelox offers two kinds: ready-to-deploy agents with preconfigured call flows for common tasks, and custom agents designed around your processes and connected to your systems. Both follow rules you approve and hand the call to a person when a situation needs one.

Agents suit calls that follow a recognisable pattern: after-hours enquiries, bookings, first-line questions and lead qualification. Anything outside the rules you set is passed to your team with a summary, so callers don't have to repeat themselves.

Standard vs custom

Two ways to start.

Start with a ready-to-deploy agent and move to a custom build later, or design a custom agent from day one.

Use cases

Where call agents help most.

Customer support

Answer common questions, take messages and route complex issues to the right person.

Lead qualification

Ask the questions your sales team needs and pass qualified enquiries on with a summary.

Appointment booking

Offer available times, confirm bookings and handle reschedules outside business hours.

Reminders and follow-ups

Make approved outbound calls, such as appointment or payment reminders, within agreed rules.

Capabilities

What an agent can be set up to do.

The exact capabilities of your agent are confirmed in scope before build. We don't promise features that your phone system or data can't support.

Inbound and outbound
Answer incoming calls, and make approved outbound calls where the use case and consent rules allow.
Languages
English at launch; other languages confirmed per project.
Telephony and CRM
Connection to your phone system and CRM, confirmed during discovery.
Transcripts and summaries
Call transcripts and short summaries, so your team sees what happened on each call.
Reporting
Call volumes, outcomes and hand-over reasons, to show where the agent helps and where it needs tuning.
Transfer and escalation
Rules for when a call goes to a person, based on topic, urgency, caller request or time of day.

Sample call

Hear how a hand‑over works.

An after-hours call to a fictional plumbing business. The agent recognises an urgent situation, collects the essentials and transfers the caller to a person.

This is an illustrative script read aloud by your browser's text-to-speech. It is not a recording of an Intelox agent. Approved recordings will replace it.

AgentThanks for calling Harbour Plumbing. You're speaking with the after-hours assistant. I can book a visit or connect you with the on-call plumber. How can I help?

CallerHi. There's water coming through our kitchen ceiling. I think a pipe has burst upstairs.

AgentThat sounds urgent. Have you been able to turn the water off at the mains?

CallerNot yet. I'm not sure where it is.

AgentIt's usually near the front boundary, close to the water meter. While you check, I'll alert the on-call plumber. Can I confirm the address?

CallerTwelve Wattle Street, Ashfield.

AgentThank you. I've sent your details through, and I'm transferring you to the on-call plumber now. If the call drops, they'll ring you straight back on this number.

Call transferred to a person, with a summary and the address sent ahead. This is an example of a human-escalation rule. Harbour Plumbing is fictional; this script illustrates the kind of call flow a custom agent can handle.

Onboarding

How you go live.

  1. Discovery

We review your call types, volumes, hours and the systems involved, and agree what the agent should and shouldn't do.

  2. Design the call flow

We write the conversation, hand-over rules and data handling with you, and set up any connections.

  3. Test with real scenarios

Your team tests typical and awkward calls. We tune wording, routing and escalation before launch.

  4. Go live and review

We launch, often starting with a subset of calls, then review transcripts and outcomes with you.

Limitations, stated plainly

  • Not every call is resolved by the agent. Calls outside the agreed rules are handed to a person or taken as a message.
  • Agents follow the information and systems they are given; they don't make decisions you haven't approved.
  • Call recording and transcription follow the notices and consent rules set for your business.
  • An agent is not an emergency service. Callers in danger should always call Triple Zero (000).

FAQs

Questions buyers ask.

What's the difference between a standard and a custom agent?

A standard agent uses a preconfigured call flow for a common task and is quicker to launch. A custom agent is designed around your processes and can connect to the systems agreed in scope, such as your CRM or booking tool.

What happens when a caller needs a person?

The agent follows the hand-over rules you approve: it can transfer the call, take a message or arrange a call-back, and it sends your team a summary so the caller doesn't have to repeat themselves.

Will callers know they're speaking with an AI agent?

We recommend agents identify themselves as automated assistants at the start of the call. The greeting is agreed with you during design.

Are calls recorded?

Recording and transcription are configured per project, with appropriate caller notices. How recordings are stored and for how long is set out in your agreement and our data handling statement.

How long does it take to go live?

It depends on the type of agent and the systems involved. Standard agents are faster; custom agents include design, integration and testing. We give you a timeline after discovery.
